Giving to the Columbia Area United Way

Your Gifts Help Local People

Your gift to United Way helps 1 in 5 people in Mid-Missouri.

Giving to United Way enables you to make the greatest difference in improving our community.

United Way insures that funding is well spent in our community. Your gift through payroll deduction is used by our partner agencies in the following ways...

When you give $1 per pay period, the Central Missouri Food Bank and Pantry will feed a family of three five meals….that’s 180 meals you will provide for hungry people in our community in one year.

When you give $7 per pay period, the Family Health Center will be able to supply medication to 2 un-insured people… that’s 24 people you will be helping to stay healthy for one year.

When you give $14 per pay period, Alzheimer’s Association can give 3 hours of respite care to a family needing help with a loved one. That’s 36 hours or 12 families per year that you will be helping.

When you give $28 per pay period, Salvation Army Harbor House will provide 2 weeks of shelter to 2 homeless families.

You can accomplish a lot in one year.

Your gift to United Way helps more people than any other local gift.

Building a Better Community
One child at a time, One family at a time,
One day at a time.

A Message from the UM/MU Campaign Chairs

The Columbia Area United Way has 32 member agencies that help kids succeed, build strong families, and promote health and independence. University employees have a long history of commitment to Columbia and the surrounding area and the generosity of our employees makes a significant impact in our Mid-Missouri community.

The University's fall United Way campaign provides an opportunity for us to express our appreciation for all that the Columbia area means to us. University faculty, students, family members and former employees benefit everyday from the local services provided by United Way agencies. Some of these services are subsidized daycare services, health care for families of employees, shelter for abuse victims, meals on wheels for retired or recovering employees and assistance for victims of fires.

Last year the Columbia Area United Way raised $2.866 million to support health and human services in Mid-Missouri. This level of support could only be achieved through an organized community effort that includes the University. The 2007 Campaign goal is $3,192,381, an increase of more than $100,000. The University's portion of this goal is $575,000.

We hope that in addition to meeting this year's goal, more employees will choose to participate. As noted above, a monthly contribution of $1 will allow the Central Missouri Food Bank and Pantry to acquire enough food to provide 15 meals to a family in need. Please consider joining us in the effort to improve the quality of life for our neighbors, co-workers and friends. Feel free to contact any of us if we can provide additional information or assist in any other way in regard to this important endeavor for the University and the Columbia area.

Thank you!

Every dollar makes a difference when you give to United Way.
